Camino Lebaniego
71.7 km – 3 stages
The Camino Lebaniego starts in San Vicente de la Barquera and ends at The Monastery of San Toribio. It connects the Camino del Norte with the Camino Francés if you continue via The Camino Vadiniense.
If you plan to walk the Camino del Norte you might have noticed an increase in road walking and more pavement. Want to get back to pure nature? Research the Camino Lebaniego and Vadiniense, it might be just the right fit for you.
This pilgrimage to the Monastery of San Toribio crosses an amazingly beautiful part of Northern Spain.
The Monastery of San Toribio is guardian of The Ligum Crucis (“wood of the Cross”) considered by the Catholic Church to be the largest surviving piece of the cross upon which Christ was crucified.
In the year 2023, at the time of this writing, it is the Holy Year for the wonderful pilgrimage on the astonishing Camino Lebaniego.
The start of the beautiful Camino Lebaniego is in San Vicente de la Barquera at the door steps of the gothic church of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles.
On its own it’s a short Camino. You can do shorter stages, the stages on this page are just an example. Take a look at the services available in each stage and make your own plan. If you continue on the Camino Vadiniense you can connect to the Camino Francés and walk on to Santiago de Compostela.
You follow the Red arrows and crosses on the Camino Lebaniego.
