Let us start by saying we always prefer a poncho. However, the Full Zip Rain Pants from Mac in a Sac has convinced us that rain pants might not be that bad (at all!). Some pilgrims prefer rain coat and rain pants over a poncho. There is (was!) one major flaw to the use of rain pants in our opinion: you keep looking at the sky and thinking ‘I would like to take my rain pants off, but in 30 minutes it might be raining again so… I’ll keep them on’. At the end of the day, you’ve worn your rain pants during the whole hike, it rained in total about 2 hours, and…. your hiking pants still became wet because of your transpiration and the usual condensation… arrghhh! Another downside to rain pants is that your big hiking boots usually don’t fit well through. That’s usually the reason why you don’t take them off easily in between showers.
Mac in a Sac has the perfect solution for folks who really want to stay away from the traditional poncho: full zip rain pants.
The Full Zip Rain Pants by Mac in a Sac has a zipper on both sides from top to bottom. The zipper can be unzipped on both sides. Imagine the possibilities: you can take it off easily during your hike without even taking off your boots or your backpack. You can chose to unzip the pants partly. You could even do a complete rain-strip-show if you’d want to ;-).
Enjoy the waterproof and windproof fabric in a comfortable way due to its extreme breathability. The taped seams have been independently tested, so you can be sure of staying dry in the rain.
Besides this double-zip functionality these full zip rain pants have a few extra perks:
