We tested the Icebreaker Women’s Descender LS Zip on the Camino since we had been hearing rumors of how amazing Merino Wool hiking wear is. We added it to our collection since we were immediately convinced this is really worth the investment for pilgrims. Yes, it is more expensive than your average hiking wear, but the comfort, the odor resistant qualities, the breathability, and it’s overall durable quality are unmatched. It’s basically a decision you make now for the long term: buy every now and than a cheap piece because it stinks and has holes in it, or do it right the first time: buy an Icebreaker that lasts a life-time :-).
A versatile and technical mid layer designed to insulate and breathe during cold, high-output days up in the mountains, out on the slopes or along the trails, the Descender Long Sleeve Zip is ready for any active adventure. Made with our new high-loft textured fleece, the Descender features our Corespun fibers—which uses nylon fibers wrapped in merino wool for added durability and quicker drying—as well as heat-trapping channels to help regulate your temperature during technical high-exertion pursuits like skiing, climbing or running in cold conditions. Lighter-weight side panels help manage moisture and dump excess heat when you’re moving fast, while the zippered hand pockets secure your daily essentials. Forward set side seams and offset shoulder seams improve comfort while wearing a pack, and we also added fold-over cuffs for a cozy touch.
